Horizons: New technologies and trends in supply chain management – RISE

RiSE organised a panel speakers:

Logistics and Supply Chain Management experts Dr Kamila Walters and Asher Rospigliosi, from the University of Brighton’s School of Business and Law, and Dr Maria Holgado Granados and Dr Aniekan Essien from the University of Sussex’s Business School and Supply Chain 4.0 hub. followed by Q&A.

The session produced a really engaged discussion about the complexity of using data and technology in SME / real world contexts.

Useful points raised by the delegates included:

  • How difficult merging data from different sources can be
  • Ethics of linking and sharing data in supply chains
  • How complex the interaction between optimised route planning and varied products can be
  • Difficulties about harnessing technology for SMEs compared with the economies of scale for larger organisations
  • The pressing need for approaches that address climate pressures

I really enjoyed both the points raised by the audience (above) and the useful expert knowledge shared by Dr Kamila WaltersDr Maria Holgado Granados and Dr Aniekan Essien
